MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Towson University gymnastics team wrapped up its second quad meet of the week, picking up a win against West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Western Michigan. The Tigers put up a 196.325, their fourth highest score of the season. The Panthers placed second with a 195.225 ahead of the Mountaineers (195.00) and Broncos (194.625).
After posting their only event score below 49 of the afternoon on beam for the first rotation, the Tigers sat in second place. The Black & Gold then managed to bounce back after a 49.025 on beam for the second rotation, moving to first place and maintaining the lead for the rest of the meet.
The Tigers picked up four podium finishes, two of which were gold medal performances from Isabella Minervini and Grace Vaillancourt.
By Rotation
First Rotation – Bars – 48.850
- Isabella Minervini logged her eighth 9.9 or better on bars of the season, placing first overall with a 9.950.
- Grace Vaillancourt posted a 9.825 to tie for fourth.
- Clara Hong received a 9.750 while Lauren Greene scored a 9.725.
Second Rotation – Beam – 49.025
- Grace Vaillancourt posted a season high 9.900 for Towson's second individual victory of the meet. Her performance ties the Tigers top score on the event this season.
- Jenna Weitz and Clara Hong posted 9.800s to tie for fourth.
- Sarah Girot logged a 9.775 while Lauren Keener scored a 9.750.
Third Rotation – Floor – 49.200
- Carmella Calafati, Grace Vaillancourt and Jenna Weitz logged Towson's top score on the event of 9.850 for a share of fifth place.
- Elise Tisler and Retoshia Halsell posted a pair of 9.825s.
Fourth Rotation – Vault – 49.250
- For her first time competing in the lineup this season after recovering from an injury, sophomore Polina Belanovski posted a 9.875 to tie with Elise Tisler for Towson's top score on the event. The two made their way on to the podium, tying for second place.
- Retoshia Halsell logged her fifth 9.850 of the season, tying her collegiate career high.
- Camille Vitoff and Adrianna Hoffman both posted 9.825s.
