Equestrian Closes Out Regular Season With Home Win
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College equestrian team closed out the IHSA regular season by taking High Point Team honors at the Goucher/UMBC show at the Goucher stables on Saturday. The Gophers took High Point Team honors in six of eight IHSA shows this season and finished second in the other two en route to its 12th straight IHSA Zone IV, Region I title.
Kellen Sullivan earned High Point Rider honors after he placed first in both Open Flat and Open Fences. Sullivan also clinched the Region I High Point Rider title for the season and will compete in the Cacchione Cup competition at the IHSA Zone IV Championship on April 6 at Sweet Briar.
Goucher recorded four other first place finishes on the day. Jacob Connell placed first in Limit Fences. Zoe Wright-Riley and Harriet Arney each placed first in Limit Flat, while Max Davis finished first in Intro Flat.
Chloe Perkins recorded a second place finish in Intermediate Flat, with Simcha McGowan taking second in Novice Flat.
Goucher is back in action Sunday as it hosts the IHSA Zone IV, Region I Championships at 11 am. Sullivan will be competing in Open Flat and Open Fences, Cordelia Edwards will be competing in Intermediate Fences and Connell will be competing in Limit Flat.
