Local girl Lucy has been in need of a kidney for a while and has had to endure two unsuccessful surgeries. After another long search, she found another donor thanks to being on 98 rock's morning show.
The most recent surgery was successful and she and her mother are grateful and living a blesses life. All of them--including the donor--are scheduled to appear again on the show.
Lucy's mother, Nicole Zais said on facebook:
Lucy and I will be returning to the 98rock studio on the morning of July 10th. And I’m so elated that Lucy‘s kidney Donor will be with us to give the listeners an update. But there was a you who don’t know, last summer Lucy and I had gone onto the 98rock morning show and shared our story.
I call it my campaign for Lucy‘s living Donor- and the role they played on this journey. Our living donor Megan is a teacher, she does not listen to the radio very much, if at all. But that morning, she ended up having to take her husband‘s vehicle to drop her kids off at school. And 98rock just happened to be on the radio station and she did not change it.
Megan said, after hearing all of the things that Lucy had gone through, and all of the things that I have had to deal with since before Lucy was even worn into this world, that it really resonated with her.
Megan is the same age that I am, she’s a perfect size lol, very healthy, and like she said, she’s never really had to put a second thought into her kids health and couldn’t imagine what I had been going through. She said she came home that day and told her husband, I think I’m going to donate my kidney to this little girl named Lucy.
I’m also very grateful for her husband being so supportive in this selfless act that I’m sure interrupted their life a bit. I can’t wait for Lucy to meet her literal lifesaver while she’s feeling good and not straight out of Transplant surgery.
I’m already crying so I’m not going to be able to wear make up lol. I think she’ll be able to actually see the gift of life in Lucy Already. I also can’t wait to share with the guys that having us come on their show and share our story, is essentially what led us to the perfect kidney. A lot of things fell through before receiving Megan‘s kidney, but it was all meant to be. Everything happened the way it was supposed to. And I’m so grateful for everyone involved.
