UPDATE: 18 YEAR OLD WAS ARRESTED, NO OTHER INFORMATION AT THIS TIME
After midnight yesterday Baltimore County police caught an ATM theft attempt in progress with three thieves removing it from the bank wall and causing $65,000 damage.
They were unable to take the ATM and one man was caught, whose name still not yet released. The Baltimore Sun reports they may be tied to a ring around Baltimore going back two years.
There was also a similar recent ATM robbery on Beaver Dam Road at the Royal Farms.
Much local social media chatter especially on Next Door is expressing outrage as the recent nationwide crime increases hits home. Murder is up a record 30% over a year and other serious crimes also up in double digits.
Over the weekend the news of a murder at the Bowlero across from the fairgrounds alarmed as well, late night. There are still no suspects arrested, as witnesses say an earlier argument created a later scuffle and subsequent gunshots. The murderer escaped.
Some on social media are saying that things are no worse and that the bowling alley location had murder there before. The statistics are higher across the board, so likely northern Baltimore County is not immune now, as crime stats before were much lower here.
The county as a whole has murder way up even beyond the national trend, and record-breaking.
Some neighbors are complaining that they are not getting news especially on the Baltimore County Police website or precinct site. This is the case after they, and we as residents, have heard helicopters and heavy siren activity on many occasions.
There was also a notice that we should be aware of more car thefts but with few details. And, a recap of a seriously injured pedestrian collision near York and Padonia Roads over the weekend by a witness. However, others could not find reports.
Hunt Valley Life has also attempted to seek information via the normal channels--the police news website, press releases, twitter, and precinct updates. However, the incidents reported do seem to be scarce compared to local residents on social media.
